One lost finger doesn't mean your iPhone voicemails are permanently deleted. Here's how to get your messages back.
Recover deleted voicemails
Accidentally deleting a voicemail on your iPhone, or deliberately deleting a voicemail and then changing your mind, is not a big deal. Just don't sync your iPhone with your computer (doing so will clear the cache of deleted messages) or wait too long (as some carriers automatically delete all deleted messages after a set amount of time), and you should be fine.
To retrieve your voicemail, open the Phone app and click the Voicemail tab. Scroll down and select "Deleted Messages" from the bottom of the list.
Click on the voicemail you want to recover and you will see a screen similar to viewing a regular voicemail, but with one big difference. Notice that the red "trash can" icon now has a diagonal line running through it? Click it to "undelete" the voicemail.
Recovered voicemails will reappear in the list at exactly the same position (chronologically) as they were before deletion.
Voicemails suddenly disappeared? Don't panic
Other possible issues are unexpected (and shocking) voicemail disappearing behavior, where all your saved messages appear to be deleted immediately without your input. This is most likely an error caused by some kind of glitch or even a recent iOS version update. You still have a good chance of getting them all back.
The remedy here is to restart your iPhone. On iPhone X or later, or any phone with Face ID, press and hold the Side button (on the right) and the Volume Up button until the iPhonevibrates and the screen changes. Slide the "Slide to power off" slider to the right to turn off your phone.
If you have an older iPhone than iPhone
Wait a moment for iPhone to turn off completely, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Wait for your iPhone to finish restarting and open the Phone app. Your missing voicemail should now be visible in the Voicemail tab.
Protect future voicemails
While it's always a good idea to try and avoid accidentally deleting voicemails, there's another way to keep them that doesn't require storing them all in your voicemail history. In fact, you can save voicemails too. Note that for this feature to work, you need to install the official Files app.
Open the Phone app and switch to the Voicemail tab, then select the message you want to save.
Click the Share button (the square with an upward arrow) to pull up the Share menu. Select Save to File to save the message as a separate file, accessible through the Files app.

Select a location to save your voicemail, then click Save in the upper right corner of the screen.
You can do this by opening the Files app, finding the file (remember where you saved it!), then clicking on it and pressing "Play"to listen to the saved voicemail button.
Another thing to keep in mind is that these voicemail recovery steps may not work with some carriers. If you have to call a specific number or access your voicemail outside of the Phone app, you'll need to contact your carrier directly to try to recover your lost messages.
