Huawei will announce P30 and P30 Pro on Tuesday at an event in Paris, France. We will be in the French capital to cover everything new, but with so many leaks in the last few weeks we don't expect to see a lot of surprises.
New cameras
The P in Huawei P30 apparently stands for Photography and the company went all-in to produce the best cameraphone. According to a leaked specs sheet, the Pro variant will sport a 40 MP f/1.6 main shooter, secondary 20 MP wide-angle camera, 8 MP 10x hybrid zoom snapper, and a ToF sensor on the side.

The 10x zoom will be a periscope camera, combining 5x optical enhancement with some digital boost. Looking at the leaked renders, we don’t see the same setup on the vanilla P30, meaning it will likely have a regular telephoto lens. The triple setup will be the standard 40 MP lens, borrowed from the Mate 20 Pro, while the second and third cameras are copied from the regular Mate 20.

The Huawei P30 Lite is also rumored to have three shooters, but since neither the Huawei P10 Lite, nor the Huawei P20 Lite appeared at the official launch of the series, we probably won't be hearing anything about it tomorrow.
Displays
Huawei and Samsung were the first companies to introduce smartphones with a hole in the display for the selfie shooter. However, we expect the P30 and P30 Pro to stick to regular waterdrop notches. This means there will be no room for fancy 3D face-scanning tech, seen in the Mate 20 Pro. But similar to the Mates, the vanilla variant is expected to have a flat panel, while the Pro version will come with curved edges.
Huawei P30 • Huawei P30 Pro
The P30 will also be the first regular flagship with a fingerprint scanner under the display. Until this day every non-Pro device had its sensor either on the front or the back. We are yet to see if it will be ultrasonic like Samsung’s idea or optical like every other smartphone manufacturer.
Pricing
The price of a flagship is always the talking point around its launch. The base model of the P30 Pro will be under €1,000, but if you want more storage, you’ll have to go above that threshold. We would love to tell you more about the US prices, but the issues between the United States and Huawei are unlikely to get resolved soon.
Huawei P30 • Huawei P30 Pro
Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 with free Galaxy Buds and Huawei is also planning some freebies. Multiple listings revealed a brand new Sonos One Bluetooth speaker (that costs €230 on its own) will be shipped with early-bird offers. Huawei might even add a wireless charger, but this is likely market-dependant.
Other specs
The chipset will be Kirin 980, which is hardly a surprise. Huawei P30 will have 6/128 GB memory, while the P30 Pro will have 8/128 GB as a base. 8/256 GB and 8/512 GB combinations are also expected. Selfies are said to be 32 MP, while battery will be 3,650 mAh and 4,200 mAh, respectively, with only the Pro having the fast 40W charging.
Huawei P30 Pro
Colors will be the usual Black and Twilight gradient, but the P30 Pro will also have a Red and Ice White variant, both of which look exciting. We will let you know if they appear great in person as soon as we get to spend some time with them.
